The IEEE PES Award for Excellence in Power Distribution Engineering recognizes recipients for their remarkable engineering contributions to the field of distribution technology this year it is presented this year to Thomas E. McDermott for contributions to simulation techniques for power distribution systems, including integration of distributed energy resources and modeling lightning transients.

The IEEE PES CSEE Yu-Hsiu Ku Electrical Engineering Award recognizes excellent performance in the fields of electricity, electrical machinery, power system engineering and related fields that have a lasting beneficial impact on the Chinese Society, this year it is presented this year to HE Renmu, for contributions in measurement-based load modeling of power systems.

The IEEE PES Cyril Veinott Electromechanical Energy Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of electromechanical energy conversion it is presented this year to Bulent Sarlioglu for contributions to the design, development, and manufacturing of electric motors and drives for industrial and aerospace applications.

The IEEE PES Leadership in Power Award recognizes industry leaders for exceptional contributions to the promotion of the electric power engineering profession it is presented this year to Mark Carpenter for supporting the development of engineering resources to advance power systems solutions, sponsoring mentoring programs, and promoting industry professionals collaboration.

The IEEE PES Nari Hingorani Custom Power Award recognizes major contribution to the state of the art of Custom Power technology and its applications it is presented this year to Ambrish Chandra for contributing in improvement of power quality and grid integration of renewable energy sources.

The IEEE PES Nari Hingorani FACTS Award recognizes major contribution to the state of the art of Custom Power technology and its applications. It is presented this year to Ambrish Chandra for advancing FACTS controllers application in education, research, and professional society, and for developing an innovative STATCOM technology utilizing PV solar farms.

The IEEE PES Outstanding Power Engineer Educator Award recognizes excellence in classroom teaching, course development and the promotion of student, local, transnational and technical activities. It is presented this year to Shmuel S. Oren for contributions to mentorship and education on the design and operation of electricity markets.

The IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the leadership of technical society, community and humanitarian activities, and demonstration of significant engineering achievements. It is presented this year to Daniel Kenneth Molzahn for contributions to the theory and practical application of nonlinear optimization algorithms for electric power systems.

The IEEE PES Prabha S. Kundur Power System Dynamic and Control Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the understanding and control of the dynamics of the power system. It is presented this year to David J. Hill  for contributions to the power network modelling, theory, analysis and control.

The IEEE PES Ramakumar Family Renewable Energy Excellence Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of developing, utilizing and integrating renewable energy resources. It is presented this year to Mukesh Nagpal for protection solutions facilitating the grid integration of renewable energy resources.

The IEEE PES Roy Billinton Power System Reliability Award recognizes contributions in modeling, analysis and data development to assess system reliability in planning and operations. It is presented this year to Chongqing Kang for contribution to power system reliability analysis and enhancement under high renewable energy penetration.

The IEEE PES Uno Lamm High Voltage Direct Current Award recognizes outstanding engineers and scientists who have contributed to the advancement of High Voltage Direct Current Technology it is presented this year to Hans Bjorklund for outstanding contributions and visionary leadership to the development of advanced control and protection systems for HVDC.

The IEEE PES Wanda Reder Pioneer in Power Award was created to foster leadership supporting career advancement, networking and education of women in the electric power and energy industry and to recognize a deserving female in the field of power engineering. It is presented this year to Marianela Herrera Guerrero for outstanding contributions and leadership in efficient and reliable operation of public utilities, inclusiveness and diversity of power marketing, and the transformation of the energy structure.

Each year, two Chapters are chosen receive the IEEE PES Outstanding Chapter Award for achieving excellence in providing the best set of overall programs and activities for its Members. This year the Pune Chapter has been chosen for the Small Chapter Category with the Germany Chapter as runner-up. The Malaysia Chapter has been chosen for the Large Chapter Category with the Queensland Chapter as the Runner-up.
